Terms of service.

These terms govern your use of Penwell, an AI service that drafts and posts content to X (formerly Twitter) on your behalf. By creating an account or connecting your X account, you agree to these terms.

1. The service

Penwell drafts posts and replies in your voice and, with your approval, publishes them to X using your authorized OAuth credentials. We do not post without your explicit approval, either via the dashboard or through a confirmed schedule you set.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• You must own or be authorized to operate the X account you connect. Operating someone else's account without their permission breaks both these terms and X's.
• You are responsible for activity under your account.

3. Subscriptions and payment

Penwell costs $39/month for your first X account and $19/month for each additional one. Prices may change with notice, but if you already have an active subscription, you keep the price you signed up at. Billing renews monthly until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from settings; access continues through the end of the paid period.

No refunds. Payments already made are not refunded. Cancelling stops the next payment; it does not return the last one.

7-day free trial. New subscriptions start with a 7-day trial — one per customer, ever, so cancelling and subscribing again does not start a second one. We take your card when you sign up but charge nothing during the trial. Cancel from settings before it ends and you are never charged; if you don't, the first $39 is taken automatically when the trial finishes. The trial is not the full plan: AI writing actions are limited to five a day rather than eight, and the monthly allowances for reading linked pages, watching videos and web searches are scaled to the length of the trial rather than a full month. Replies are not reduced.

4. Your X account

Connecting X is OAuth 2.0. We never receive your X password. Access and refresh tokens are encrypted at rest. You can disconnect at any time from the integrations page; we delete the tokens immediately.

5. What you can't do

• Use Penwell to post spam, harassment, hate speech, or content that breaks X's rules.
• Use Penwell to impersonate another person.
• Attempt to extract our underlying prompts, model weights, or training data.
• Resell or sublicense access without our permission.

6. AI-generated content

Drafts are produced by AI based on your voice profile. You are responsible for what you approve and publish, including accuracy. Penwell coaches but does not vet. We retain a reasonable license to the prompts, drafts, and feedback you provide so we can deliver and improve the service.

7. Termination

You can cancel your subscription from settings at any time. To have the account itself erased, email hello@penwell.io and we delete it and all your data within 30 days. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, with notice when we reasonably can.

8. Disclaimers

Penwell is provided "as is". We don't warrant that the service will be error-free or that drafts will perform on X. We are not liable for content X removes or actions X takes against your account.

9. Liability cap

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Penwell is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect.
