25% of every base month, in cash
Penwell is $39 a month. Send someone who stays and you keep $9.75 of every month they pay for the base plan, for as long as they pay it. Paid in cash through Stripe, not as account credit.
How it works
- 01You get a link
It looks like penwell.io/from/yourhandle. Anyone who opens it is counted to you for 30 days, even if they sign up a week later from a bookmark.
- 02They sign up and pay
Their first month is $39 off. From their second month on, every month they pay for the base plan books you a commission.
- 03It waits 30 days
That window is there so a refund or a chargeback has time to arrive before the money leaves. Nothing is paid out of it early.
- 04It gets sent
Payouts run weekly. Once what you are owed passes $25, it goes out. Below that it keeps adding up rather than getting eaten by transfer fees.
End to end, that is slower than it sounds. One customer earns $9.75 a month, so it takes 3 of their months to clear $25, and the last of those still waits 30 days. From one customer, the first payout lands about 4 months after they sign up. Volume is what shortens it.
Where we can pay
Penwell pays through Stripe from Cyprus. Stripe will only send those payouts to the United States, the United Kingdom, the EEA, Canada and Switzerland. If your bank is somewhere else we cannot pay you, so we do not take the application. That is the whole list, and it is the same list in the form below.
Picking a country from that list is not the end of it. Stripe checks who you are and can still refuse an account. Commission keeps being counted while that is unresolved, but nothing can be sent until Stripe clears you.

- When does the first commission appear?
- Later than you would like, and we would rather say so here. Someone who arrives through your link skips the 7-day trial and gets a whole first month free instead — $39 off. On the base plan that first month collects nothing, so nothing is owed on it and your first commission is their second month. If they also pay for extra X accounts, part of that first month is collected and a smaller commission is booked then.
- What about the extra X accounts?
- Commission is 25% of what the invoice collects toward the $39 base plan. Extra X accounts are $19 each on top and never earn commission, so a customer paying $58 still earns you $9.75.
- Are there months that pay nothing?
- Yes. Credit a customer holds comes off the $39 base plan first, before anything else on their invoice. So a customer with a $39 credit who also pays for an extra X account has an invoice that collects $19, and none of it counts as base. That month owes you nothing even though money changed hands. Refunds work the opposite way round and come off the extra accounts first, which is in your favour. Both are our call, because Stripe does not say which line the money belongs to. The months either side still count, and it is not a tracking fault.
- How long until I actually get paid?
- Longer than most programs admit. One customer earns you $9.75 a month, payouts start at $25, and every commission waits 30 days on top. One customer means about 4 months to the first payout. Ten customers means about two months.
- What if someone refunds?
- A refund comes off the extra X accounts first, so refunding a $19 add-on off a $58 payment changes nothing for you. Past those it eats into the base month and your commission drops to 25% of what was kept, and your earnings page shows what is left of them. On a plan with no extra accounts, any refund reaches the base month. A refund or a chargeback that takes the whole base month cancels the commission, and the page shows that too. None of it happens once the money has been sent to you.
- Do I need to be a Penwell customer?
- No. You sign in with X so we know who the link belongs to, but you do not need a subscription to be paid.
- Who handles tax?
- Stripe. They collect your details on their own page and issue whatever your country needs. Penwell never sees your bank account or your tax forms.
- Can I promote it any way I like?
- No. No paid ads on the Penwell name, no fake accounts, no referring yourself, and no promising anything the product does not do. Break those and unpaid commissions are cancelled and the account is closed to the program. Sending people who immediately refund pays nothing anyway: a commission that has not been sent yet can always be cancelled, and the hold is there so most refunds arrive before anything has been sent.
- Can the program change?
- Yes. We can change the rate, the hold, the minimum or the rules, and we can end the program or close an account to it. Commissions already booked are still paid. We are not going to do it quietly.
